THE r50 NAME: Richlite’s first ever recycled product is made with 50% recycled paper from Old Corrugated Cardboard (OCC). The cardboard boxes are collected from curbside recycling programs near the Richlite factory.
COLOR r50 starts as a medium brown, aging into a warm, honey-brown. You can differentiate this color by noticing the small specks common to recycled paper..
Richlite's original color Natural represents the companies rich history. Founded in 1943 in the Pacific Northwest, Richlite was originally used for machine tooling by the aerospace industry. Eventually the paper-composite material was adopted by the commercial food industry due to its sanitary and durable qualities. Richlite was embraced by the marine industry due to its water-resistant construction, and the action sports industry for use in building skateparks. In the early 2000’s, the architecture and design community began to utilize Richlite for numerous interior and exterior applications. Today Richlite is widely used in consumer products and still in use as an industrial material.

THE BLACK DIAMOND NAME: In the wooded hills bordering the Cascade mountain range, Black Diamond’s roots beckon backto the mining days of 1880. Today the quant berg is home to a growing number of people who have relocated to the area to enjoy the serenity of nature.
COLOR: Black Diamond is a rich, velvety black. Our most popular color, Richlite’s Black Diamond is well known for its true black surface and consistent color throughout the thickness of the material.
THE SLATE NAME: The first ‘colored’ product Richlite produced was Slate. Known for its durability and weather resistance, Slate has been the go-to choice for exterior cladding and other outdoor applications.
COLOR: Slate is a true jet-black color. Slate is our most color-stable option for exterior applications.
THE GRAYS HARBOR NAME: Captain Robert Gray, the first American to circumnavigate the globe, originally discovered Grays Harbor in 1792. This majestic deep water port links the Pacific Ocean to the enchanting Quinault Rain Forest.
COLOR: Grays Harbor starts off dark grey, aging into a deep, gunmetal hue.
THE MAPLE VALLEY NAME: Home to Lake Wilderness and Cedar Mountain, Maple Valley lies in the Cascade foothills and just north of Black Diamond. This lumber mill and mining town was originally settled as ‘Vine Maple Valley’ in 1879, however, the word ‘Vine’ was later cut simply because the post office deemed the name too long.
COLOR: Maple Valley is made with neutral-colored paper, the color you see is purely a result of the resin. It first appears a pale, amber color and over time will darken to sienna, similar to an old fir floor.
THE BROWNS POINT NAME: Browns Point, best known for the historical lighthouse that guides ships through Commencement Bay, was first lit in 1887 (two years before Washington became a state). It was originally named “Point Brown” and the first resident keeper was coincidentally, Oscar Brown.
COLOR DESCRIPTION: Browns Point starts as a medium brown, aging into a leathery honey brown.
THE REDSTONE NAME: Redstone Peak, at 5,720 feet, is a remarkable jagged rock formation on the remote north side of 14,410-foot Mount Rainier. During certain parts of the day the sun’s reflection off the rock creates a stunning red hue.
COLOR: Redstone appears as a deep wine red, darkening slightly while becoming warmer.
THE CHOCOLATE GLACIER NAME: Hidden deep in Washington’s rugged Cascade mountain range, Chocolate Glacier is one of the main ice flows on Glacier Peak, a 10,541-foot volcano. Hiking to the glacier is a true wilderness experience with the closest road more than eight miles away.
THE BLUE CANYON NAME: Named for the natural blue haze that blankets the area near Lake Whatcom in northern Washington, Blue Canyon is one of several colors from the Northwest Collection, dedicated to the natural landmarks near Richlite’s Washington State headquarters.
COLOR: Blue Canyon first appears as a dark cobalt blue and darkens toward navy, eventually becoming midnight blue. Note that images of materials are a close representation of color and texture, but the actual product color and texture may vary.
